Android Makes the Leap to Tablets!

You may have heard about the iPad and even the Blackpad, but just wait and you will see a host of Android powered tablet-style devices.  Just like the Android phone based OS has taken on the Smart Phone market and has achieved amazing results (over 250,000 activations a day as of this posting), watch for the Tablet fight to also favor Android.

Notion has an Android powered tablet coming and Asus has leaked plans more than once for a state-of-the-art tabled also powered by Android.  Watch for many players to enter the market all using the android OS.  The current version (2.2 as of this writing) cannot fully support all of a Tablet’s functions, but the coming version (code named Gingerbread) is rumored to have a number of new features primarily intended to support Tablet computing.  Similar to the iPad being able to use many iPhone apps, many existing Android powered apps will run on the new Tablet platforms as is, but to really leverage the abilities of the tablets newer OS versions are a must.
